FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME!!!

Ok ok ok! It's been almost a year since I last wrote. How horrible am I!?!? But recently so much has happened that I actually started thinking "Hmmm this would make a good blog post!" Ergo, I am recommitting myself to writing on my blog more often! So to all you people out there I hope you're ready for some good stuff!! :)
First off, can we just talk about what a wonderful time of year it is!? No no it's not because it's January because I've done nothing but freeze this whole month! It is right in the middle of basketball season!! No greater time than now to be a Cougar fan! Now I myself at heart am a HUGE football fan!! Come August/September I am on cloud 9. I have perma-grin for weeks possibly months!!! That is no doubt the BEST time of year, but thankfully between one season to another I have basketball to keep me occupied! (And when there was a certain Puerto Rican on the volleyball team that too!)
Well so why all the hype about basketball you might ask!??! Well today is the biggest game this season in BYU Basketball! We play SDSU tonight 8:00 PM @ the Marriott Center. Did I take off work to stand in a crowd of people for two hours to get the coveted green wristband? Guilty! Am I missing all my classes to go to the game? Guilty again! I can't help that I'm such a fanatic of sports! It's just who I am and I'm proud of it! Not to mention we have quite possibly the best group of peeps to join in all the craziness! Let's document with pictures shall we?!?

The best peeps around!! I've seriously been blessed to know fans that share my passion for all things sports!! Here we are waiting anxiously for our wristbands!

Awww yeah here they are! After a lot of blood sweat and tears we finally got em!!
Well, now we wait. We wait until tonight to see what the outcome will be. Will i be nervous all day? Yes. Probably won't be able to concentrate very well. But GO COUGS!!!!

Oh and not to rub it in buuuutt....................
Coach Rose!! Hey hey Coach Rose!!!

Forgotten Treasures

So as most of your know my mom just moved into her new house a few months ago. We're still unpacking and I'm sure we'll be doing it til kingdom come!! But the great thing about going through everything is you discover little treasures you've forgotten about. For instance this little treasure.... I grew up listening to the music all the time, and I remember listening to the cd so much that we ruined it and couldn't listen to it anymore. Many a times at Aimee and Steve Takasaki's house you would find a group of us singing the songs as well. So with the mems flodding back I sat down at my mom's piano and started playing it again. This is the only musical I have seen 3 times and I've never gotten sick of it. There's just something about the music that I can't get enough of.
To make life even better I discovered on Youtube that someone had posted the whole 10 year anniversary concert. OMG can we talk about amazing!!! No, no, PHENOMENAL this concert is! Such talented people. So in honor of a musical that I grew up listening to and love so much I would like to share some of my favorite songs from that very concert.
On My Own- Such a sad song and the way Lea Salonga sings it makes you want to rip your heart out and never feel again!!! (I'm not dramatic or anything!) As a side note some of you may be interested in knowing that this lady is the singing voice of Princess Jasmine! yes yes that's right A WHOLE NEW WORLD!!!!

A Heart Full of Love- A sad tale about longing to be loved by the man you love and the happiness of discovering love for the first time. I feel so bad for Eponine!! On a happier note Cosette (the lady in the black dress) she is the singing voice of Pochantas! You're thinking right "You think I'm an ignorant savage!" Yes that Pochantas!!
Bring Him Home- If you don't find yourself drying your eyes after listening to this amazing song then you have no heart! Nuff said! Listen and you'll understand what I mean!

One Day More- I listened to this one today actually and I got chills!! Such power and appreciation for their voices!
Castle on a Cloud- this song is one I hold close to my heart and has a lot of meaning because when I was little my dad would set me on his lap and tell me to sing this song to him. *tear* So I can't help but love it!

I've always been grateful for music. It's always been something that has been a huge part of my life. I'm glad that I came back into contact with a love from my childhood. And if you're able you should definitely go on Youtube and watch the many other clips from this amazing show! Songs like "Stars", "A Little Fall of Rain", "Who Am I?", "Master of the House" etc they are all just incredible!!
As if it couldn't get any better I heard that the show is going on our again for the 25th Anniversary!! You can be sure that I will be in line for those tickets! That's for sure!

The Future......

I'm in class right now and I DO NOT want to be her, so to pass the time I am resorting to my blog. It's been a few days since I last wrote and sadly not much has happened since then.
Lately though I've thought a lot about my future and what I want to happen. I've decided that if I want things to happen I need to be the one to make them happen. One thing that has weighed heavily on my mind the last little while is the opportunity to go to Chile for 5 months and study Spanish. As most of you know I served my mission there, but only served for 6 months because of health problems. When I found this program something inside of me felt good about it, but as always fear soon followed and I started weighing the pros and cons. When I get down to the nitty gritty I have nothing holding me back from having a wonderful experience. I'm not married, no prospects just a wide open future waiting to be written! So what do I do? The spontaneous, adventurous, travel-loving side of me says "What the heck are you waiting for!?!? Jump at this opportunity!! GO AND MAKE YOUR FUTURE HAPPEN! Don't look back and have the time of your life!!" but the fearful, let's make plans and never follow through with them side of me that usually always wins says "WOAH, 5 months away from your family and it's during FOOTBALL season!! What about money? Or the money you'd be saving if you didn't go? What about a job when you get home? Think of all the birthday's, family dinners, parties you'd miss!!" It is kind of scary. One of the things I love most about living so close to home is the fact that if I am having a stressful day I can drive 20 minutes and be in the comfort of home or if I don't feel like the drive Barnes and Noble (oh how I love that place!!). It's true what they say (or maybe it's just what I say) that the longer you're in a comfort zone the harder it is to step foot outside of it. I definitely have that problem. One thing I am certain of is I do want to learn more Spanish and really the only way to become fluent in a language is to be immersed in it and I know I wouldn't regret it if I did go.
So to sum it all up the jury is still out on that decision, but the more I talk to my friends in Chile the more desire I have to go! I love that country. And I would love to have the opportunity to go back and visit my mission and the people I met and taught. It was honestly the best time of my life and I think about it every day!! And the traveling....OH THE TRAVELING!! Such a dream of mine.
So i guess here's to the future.......whatever i decide it may bring for me!

KITCHEN NAZI?!?

This past week it was decided among my roomies and I that something needed to be done about the dish situation in our apartment. Granted, this year I've been blessed with girls that actually care about how the apartment looks (more importantly smells!!) I'll never forget the turkey carcass that was left on the counter of one of my old apartments for about a week after a roommate had cooked a whole Easter meal for her friends!!! Disgusting!! So in a desperate attempt to not let my current apartment get that bad I made a sign to remind all of us girls how easy it is to keep the kitchen clean!
How hard really is it to wash and put your dishes in the dishwasher after using them? Apparently from past experiences pretty tough!! In response to my little reminder, I am now proudly know in the apartment not only as "the Mexican" but now we can add another name to the list..... KITCHEN NAZI!!! Thank you Aubrey! But really must we be that harsh? So I like to have a clean kitchen, I hardly think that puts me in the same category as Hitler or Monica Bing from Friends!!
Well, so be it dear roomies. If this is the price that must be paid to have a fresh smelling, clean apartment then the Kitchen Nazi I will be!

And so it begins......

BLOG (n) "A blog is a personal diary. A daily pulpit. A collaborative space. A political soapbox. A breaking-news outlet. A collection of links. Your own private thoughts. In short, it's whatever you want it to be!"

Well, I did it!! I finally caved and created a blog. To be honest I don't even know what the heck I am doing. All I know is I appreciate those who have made blogs to help me pass the time in a 2 hour class; therefore, I am returning the favor! I've also just discovered the amount of time that can be wasted from creating your own blog. For instance, right this very moment I should be studying for a test in 2 hours, instead what am I doing? That's right, blogging. HEAVEN HELP ME AND THIS RECENT DISCOVERY!!!
